Sleeeep... Good grief, y'all! I haven't gotten a good nights sleep in what feels like years.. and let's be honest, between pregnancy and being a new mom, it probably HAS been years.  He's worth it, though! Look at how cute he is! 🥰 
But recently, it's been a bit worse. Due to quite a few things, stress, Chuck being out of town, an unfortunate addiction to Designated Survivor and a restless 18-month-old who co-sleeps with us and decided a couple of nights ago that 2am was a perfectly appropriate time to get up and wonder around all creepy-like in the dark playroom, sleep has been increasingly scarce. -
So last night, after finally realizing what a huge sleep debt I had accumulated, I went to bed at 9... 9pm! Like a 90 year old. And I slept the whole night and could've slept more! And I feel tons better today! -
It's funny, I was feeling kind funky over the past few weeks and I wonder now how much of that feeling was just sleep deprivation? 🤔 It's honestly hilarious that we as adults and mammas pay so much attention to our babies sleep and we know if they don't get their nap or adequate sleep at night they're going to be royal little turds to deal with later. Whhyyyyyyy do we think we grow out of this need for sleep and rest? 🤷‍️ -
Makes noooo sense, right? Well, I'm going to start tonight making a concentrated effort to get MORE sleep. So I guess it's granny bedtime for me! Anyone size? -

️ my precious ️ having hygge before bedtime. Looks very idyllic, I know, but don’t let that fool you! Lillebror hadn’t slept all day (or last night either, for that matter!) and was fussy and cranky all day. He ended up throwing up on his sister right before dinner because he was so overtired  I tried to put him to bed several times and in several different ways, with no luck. While cooking dinner, serving dinner and trying to eat a little bit of dinner together with my big girl. And while doing the dishes after dinner, and getting my big girl ready for bed and reading her a story. Through all of it Lillebror was wide awake and more and more whining. My girl was really trying to be patient and understanding but she is only 6 and also needed her mor. On days like these it’s exhausting being alone with no other parent to turn to. But for about 5 minutes, when I took this picture, they were both in my bed having hygge. And I’m looking at that now that they are FINALLY both at sleep at 9:30pm. Dreading the night and what is coming. #tbt to 2 years ago(!) and our Autumn 2017 edition, the Sleep Box. In all honesty this box is a bit of a blur: it was put together when my youngest was tiny and I was surviving on very little sleep ! I still have one of the Revive candles by @madebycoopers and the smell instantly takes me back to that chaotic but happy time! We also have a few of the grey and pink Shh... sweatshirts in our shop still... purely because the sleep deprivation made me order double on some of the sizes...

Here are some of the top tips from the book that you can take away today:

Sleeping both before and after learning something new greatly assists your brain’s retention of that new information. Not getting a full night’s sleep immediately after learning something will have a direct and measurable detriment to your ability to retain the information, meaning you’ll have to spend longer being taught things again and again, or revising.

Signs that you are sleep deprived include: needing caffeine and other stimulants to stay awake and alert during a normal day and feeling sleepy before lunch.

The average human (over 90%) needs between 7-9 hours sleep every day. If you miss some sleep one day, you brain does not recover from that lack of sleep by sleeping in the next day. My plans instead consist of getting into my PJs as soon as they leave, binge watching some TV whilst consuming my weight in chocolate ( as I don’t have to share) then will probably end up going to bed earlier than what the kids will. #reallifeparenting

The fact that my husband travels for work often makes me appreciate the time that the four of us spend together even more (and also the fact that I have help in the mornings and night). I can handle that time in between waking up and dinner time no problem (usually...), but being alone with two young ones for more than 24 hours is bound to make us mamas feel a little crazy at times. Am I right? My biggest piece of advice for all the Moms (or dads) who are at home alone with the kids? Consistent routine. I used to roll my eyes at people who had to be home at a certain time for naps, or who wouldn’t stay out later than 6 because their kiddo had to be in bed by 7:00. I get it now. Having that consistent routine with Maxine and Sloane is the only way I can manage the days when I’m alone while Ethan is traveling for work. AND knowing that I’ll get to have a little “me time” each night because the girls are sound asleep by 7:30 is a really great feeling. .

 We suspect my daughter is intolerant to dairy. Every time I have it, she is beside herself. I accidentally had some yesterday, and oh lordy. She was up most most of the night screaming and crying (and tooting). I hit my breaking point and I started crying and screaming with her. I felt like I had let her down. It was my fault she was so uncomfortable. I should have been more careful.

The beautiful thing about children though, is their love is unconditional. Even when my toddler says 'I don't like you' or 'I don't want to hug you'. They still love you. They forgive you. You're still their home. You are the most important person in their world. You're the first person they run to when they skin their knee and need a hug, or they're scared and need to snuggle. Being a mom is a powerful thing. If you ever feel like you're failing, just remember, they forgive you. Your baby's will always forgive you. .

Good morning baby! ️ So this morning I actually had to WAKE SUMMER UP! She slept for almost 7 hours straight last night, and has also been taking good naps during the day - especially her first nap which lasts 2-3 hours consistently. Still room for improvement in some areas but we are only half way through our sleep program so I can only imagine where we will be in just a few short weeks. A ton of you have been asking what sleep program we are doing or who we’ve been working with, and I was going to wait until we finished the program to share but we’ve already seen such great results, I know I can recommend it to you. After struggling with secondary infertility, I learned even more about the miracle of pregnancy. ⁣

Well, when I was finally pregnant again, I instantly got sick. Like, so sick. ⁣

I threw up day and night until the 3rd trimester, and even then I had rough days. ⁣
⁣
I remember sobbing to my husband “I promise I’m grateful to be pregnant. SO, so grateful. But I also hate this and feel so guilty because we wanted this for so long and I’m not enjoying it”.⁣

His response?⁣

“It’s perfectly okay to not enjoy throwing up and feeling like death all the time. That feeling is most people’s worst nightmare. No one said you have to love it.”⁣

You guys. If you are pregnant and unbearably sick, it’s OKAY to not enjoy being sick. ⁣

The power of a good night's sleep.  There is an expression; when you win the morning, you win the day! I agree completely with that statement ... but .... you cannot win the morning until you win the NIGHT. ⁠ The stories I have heard over the years fill my heart with joy. The transformations I have witnessed personally, and now through my incredible team of professional moms, makes me more passionate than ever. ⁠

Creating an environment, that encourages sleep is essential for helping set children up for success. Thanks to a past client for sending in her picture (@brookelynnday) of the PERFECT nursery for her son, Lane.
•

How to create the perfect environment:
1. As you can see in these pictures, Lanes crib is completely free of all distractions. This includes toys, and crib mobiles.
•
2. White noise is the foundation to a successful sleep for children. The white noise should not have any lights, non-looping, and should run for the duration of naps and all night!
•
3. Pictured in photo 2, you can see that Lane’s Mom has black out curtains in place. What you cannot see, is that she also has a window cover beyond these curtains, which ensures that no light sneaks. Complete darkness is a MUST with babies beyond the day/night confusion age. Darkness helps build melatonin, which in-return helps babies become more motivated for sleep. Complete darkness means NO night lights.

Good morning .... I’ve pondered the subject and am certain this is the case.  Brain “thank you Paulie for drinking all the coffee every day ... count each jitter as an exercise move. Have you ever had a couple-of-days period in which you were just completely sleep deprived, but still went for that extra mile you previously scheduled? Well, I’ve had it this weekend + Monday. Had a two day blast at the seaside (yup, I went to the coast, I swear 🤣), came back home at Sunday midnight, dropped dead at 1 am on the couch and woke up at 5 fucking 50 the next morning to visit and climb Brana in Kamnik Alps. Climbed it in 3 and a half hours, descended for another 2 and a half.

Gotta admit, was having a mental debate for couple of minutes, pretty much like “should I stay or should I go”. I was so exhausted that I couldn’t even hold my eyes open for a prolonged period of time. It did not take long until the decision was made; I told my pal to drive while I’ll be napping at the shotgun seat. Haha, you have to figure it out somehow. Gear was set, food was packed, cameras were charged. We were GOOD TO GO. NO QUITTING.

Since I work out every single day, I really am the type of a person who takes tremendous care about 7-8 hour sleep. I find it immensely crucial for energy recharge and muscle recovery. It’s one of the very few necessities in life. Wouldn’t even be able to function on a prolonged basis without generating this amount of sleep. .
.
Do NOT cut your sleeping hours too much. There are some days when it’s absolutely justified; going for that extra mile to finish the work or to seize the opportunity ahead. But please, don’t make them too many. And do not bloody back down and find excuses when it gets hard to get your ass up early in the morning! Stay better, stay stronger. #imperative .
